Invitation to the clinic from Flori Lang:

Liebe Schwimmfreunde, Vereine und Trainer

Dear Swim Friends, Clubs and Coaches

Until 2008 I was successful but a not well formed athlete. It is no surprise most of my best times come from 2008, 2011 and 2012. During which time I won my 2 European silver medals. Because this is the period during which I was training with Dirk Lange or followed his programs.

I would like to invite you to the clinic „Optimizing Gym and Swim“. My Coach and I will talk about how we worked, what Dirks philosophy is, about our experience and analysing some specific elements of the training.

We select sample programs from gym and swim sessions, showing you how we planned a week harmonizing the two different elements.

Ihr findet alle Details in den Anhängen. Falls Ihr weitere Fragen habt, bitte kontaktiert mich.

You find all the details in the attachments. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Danke für Euer Interesse und liebe Grüsse,

Many thanks for your interest and my best wishes,

Flori

PRESS CONFERENCE OF MEXICAN SWIMMING FEDERATION AND DIRK LANGE

The President of the Mexican Swimming Federation (FMN), Kiril Todorov, presented at a press conference the new National Technical Consulter, the German Dirk Lange, who will be contracted first to 2012 with options to work toward the 2017 FINA World Championships to be held in Guadalajara.

The Federation said the German coach will make a first stage in the country, which consists in visiting the facilities and coaches to form a diagnosis and then implement a national plan tailored to the national swimming conditions and to advice the coaches for London 2012.

"The Mexican swimming is not at the level we wanted, we are at the level typical for the 60's when great things were achieved and then came the decline, so we begin a new phase in the face of 2017, where we expect great results" said Todorov.

The second stage will begin after London, when we hope that D.Lange will sign next contract and will plan and implement a system in our country.

"We have talents, facilities, including good infrastructure, what we need is some order," said the manager.

The new strategist, visited the facilities in San Luis Potosi and commented that the infrastructure is needed to reach the international level.

"I am motivated by the potential swimmers of Mexico, but the reality is, we can not have short term results but long term, these days I visited the LoMa, in San Luis Potosi, and I realized that they have good facilities to reach the international level. If teams like Brazil, Hungary and the United States with Michael Phelps, Cesar Cielo and lazlo Czeh, come to train here in preparation for highlights of the season, why the Mexican dont take advantage out of this?  We must seize the facility, "said Lange.

In addition, Lange added that the sport is driven from an early age, however, when they come to the categories of elite, level is lost.

"The infrastructure in this country is focused on children and youth with which we can not aim for the medals, we must make a program that focuses on young swimmers looking for sporting maturity, we must work on the technical and physical conditions to get strong athletes. This is one of the problems, they are too young, to have all that, what get achieved through years of work and not just a few months, "he said in German.

Dirk Lange worked from 2005 to 2008 with the South African Swimming, where achieving outstanding results, was also Head Coach of the High Performance Centre in Hamburg, Germany, where he won 16 world and 35 European championships medals with his swimmers.

For his part, Alejandro Cardenas, vice president and "Quality CONADE Sport", said he was excited about this initiative and has been endorsed by the federal agency.

"The reality is, that we need the system to help the athletes to bring them up. We have a very good raw material, great National Coaches, we need to compete internationally. The goal is very clear, the Federation has taken a period of five years to have the best performance as a country in the World 2017, which would help develop the sport, "said Cardenas, who agreed to be aware that this project is long term.

"We want the best results in Central Veracruz in 2014, in Toronto Pan Am 2015, finalists or semifinalists at Olympics in 2016 and the highlight should be the World Cup 2017 –that’s the master plan."

"I am motivated by the potential in Mexico, I got the chance to get more understanding about the number of facilities, swimming pools, and young people in this country, I see great potential with which we could achieve great things," said Lange.

Dirk Lange is excited about new duties and responsibilities for Mexican swimming and appreciates the chance to combine it with his further jobs. He is ready for the challenge!

Presseerklärung des Deutschen Schwimm-Verbandes e.V.

Kassel, 15. Dezember 2011.
